Ray-Ban uses four different types of lenses for their sunglasses. The B15 XLT lens, the ray ban usa, polarized lenses and normal lenses, which we won’t discuss here because there’s nothing special about them (they simply come in different colours).
Ray-Ban B15 XLT lenses are brownish in colour, block 100% of all UV rays and allow only 15% from the visible light to successfully pass through them (that’s an 85% reduction!). These brown lenses also provide much more contrast by cutting down on the level of blue light, instead of a G15 lens (which is described within the next paragraph). Blue light is quite easily captured by the eye and it has the impact of softening other colours that are harsher to our own vision. In other words, by reduction of the level of blue light, the differences between colours and brightness of objects will be more pronounced.
The G15 XLT lenses have similar properties because the B15 XLT lenses, however they’re of greyish/greenish colour. The G15 lens is the original aviator lens that the military requested Ray-Ban to produce. The challenge was to design a lens that had been “colour neutral”; quite simply, a lens that filters light like the human eye does. If you prefer a lens that provides a little less contrast between colours, then a G15 XLT lens is for you since it offers similar colour-sensitivity for the eye. Having a lower contrast lens, the visible difference in colour and brightness of objects is going to be dampened. Because of this the colours the thing is with these lenses will likely be natural and soft about the eyes.
Both the B15 and G15 XLT lenses are made from impact resistant optical glass that is certainly naturally scratch resistant. Quality and stability are remarkable and also over time you will notice basically no fading whatsoever from the colour.

Some limitations to polarized lenses are that LCD displays may become distorted or maybe you may notice a “rainbow” effect should your car’s windows are tinted.
All 3 lenses are incredibly useful, particularly the polarized ones, but expect to pay a premium in the sunglasses.
The lens base simply means the base curve or perhaps the front curve from the lens measured in “diopters”, which is actually a term that actually only matters to opticians.
